Dear Volusia County Graduates,

This graduation season is a special time of year that marks the culmination of your K-12 studies and the beginning of your next chapter. On behalf of Volusia County Schools, I am honored to congratulate each of you on reaching this milestone. We are so proud of you!

As you move on to bigger and better things, I want to encourage you to reflect on the journey you have taken to get there, the memories you have made, the programs you have participated in, the obstacles you have overcome and the people who have helped you along the way. I’ve seen you balance academics, extracurricular activities, volunteering and your personal life with flexibility and strength.

Education is not just about the knowledge you have gained in the classroom. It’s about the experiences you have had and the lessons learned along the way. You have developed critical thinking skills, practiced collaboration with others and discovered unique talents, abilities and passions that you will take with you no matter where you go.

So, as you prepare to head on to new adventures, whether it be furthering your education, entering the workforce or exploring other paths, remember the values, individuals and community as a whole that have guided you through your time in Volusia County Schools. Continue to achieve excellence, remain curious and become lifelong learners. Additionally, I encourage you to remember Volusia County no matter where your journey takes you, and I hope you will continue to give back and make a positive contribution to our community and beyond.

You are the future leaders, innovators and changemakers of our community and our world. Whether through Career and Technical programs and academies, advanced programs like AP and IB, extracurriculars and arts, athletics and the multitude of other VCS offerings, I know you have acquired the knowledge and skills that will allow you to make a positive impact in whatever field you choose to pursue.

I encourage you to dream big, set ambitious goals and work tirelessly to achieve them. Remember, success is not just about reaching the destination but about the journey and the growth you experience along the way.

Wherever you go, know that you have the support of your families, teachers and the entire Volusia County Schools community. Congratulations once again to the Class of 2024. Go out and make your mark on the world!

Best wishes,

Dr. Carmen J. Balgobin
